Juuse Saros was at his best on Tuesday and the Nashville Predators finally got a win in the 2024-25 NHL season.

Saros made 33 saves, including several key saves in the third period, as the Predators cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Boston Bruins at Bridgestone Arena.

After a five-game losing streak to start the season, Nashville finally picked up points in the standings. But this strike is now history.

Ryan O'Reilly opened the scoring late in the first period with his second goal of the season, a power play goal off a shot from Josi. The power play was the third man advantage for the Predators in the opening period.

Tommy Novak doubled the lead at 16:55 of the second period, shortly after a Bruins double minor expired, by knocking down a rebound from Boston goalie Jeremy Swayman's court.

Then Saros went to work in the third period, saving David Pastrnak's early breakaway chance and blocking a couple of shots on a Boston power play early in the third period. Alex Carrier threw his body at the would-be Bruins to thwart the chance in the Preds' 2-on-1 penalty shootout, drawing cheers from the Bridgestone Arena crowd.

Gus Nyquist beat Swayman on a 2-on-1 for his first goal of the season to extend the lead to 3-0 at 12:47 of the third period, and Luke Evangelista scored his first goal of the year in an empty Boston net 69 seconds later.

Overall, the Predators' game on Tuesday was closer than ever before at the start of the season, and Saros' good performance also contributed to this. Saros earned his 24th career shutout on Tuesday, his first against the Bruins. Roman Josi had two assists while O'Reilly had a multi-point game.

The Predators' next game is Friday in Chicago, their first game in a row that includes a home game against Columbus on Saturday.

Gustav Nyquist takes the puck in a 2-on-1 duel and shoots past Jeremy Swayman for his first goal of the season. The Predators are 3-0 and closing in on their first win of the 2024-25 season.

Shortly after a Charlie McAvoy double minor expires for Steven Stamkos holding the ball up, Tommy Novak extends the Predators' lead with a goal off a rebound. It's the first multi-goal lead of the season for the Predators, who survived a Bruins push midway through the second period.

Early in Nashville's third-man lead in the first period, Roman Josi's shot from the point is deflected off Ryan O'Reilly in front of Jeremy Swayman. The Predators benefit from the power play with the No. 1 group. Could Filip Forsberg also get an assist? As always, the rating is subject to change.

What won't change is Nashville's 1-0 lead at the end of the first leg.

Luke Schenn and Mark Kastelic dropped the gloves before four minutes had elapsed in the first period, and Kastelic picked off Schenn with a round of right-handed shots.

Steven Stamkos, Colton Sissons and Jonathan Marchessault will make up the second line tonight, at least initially. Zachary L'Heureux will star in a series with Michael McCarron and Cole Smith. This is a physical group.

Jeremy Swayman will start in goal for Boston against Juuse Saros.

Zachary L'Heureux is expected to make his NHL debut Tuesday against Boston after being called up from the Predators. The 2021 first-round pick spent last season with Milwaukee of the AHL and starred in the Calder Cup playoffs.
