The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro, effective late Thursday evening through Friday morning.

WHERE: Parts of western Maryland, northwestern and western Virginia, and eastern West Virginia.

WHAT: Temperatures below freezing of a maximum of 30 degrees.

WHEN: From late Thursday evening to Friday morning.

EFFECTS: Freezing conditions could destroy crops and other sensitive vegetation and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONS: Take steps now to protect sensitive plants from the cold.
