New York congressman demands answers from governor about Peanut the squirrel

A New York congressman says he and his fellow delegates want answers from the governor about the tragic death of Peanut the Squirrel … and are calling the raid a complete government overreach.

Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy — who represents New York's 23rd District — tells us that he and other members of New York's congressional delegation plan to demand answers from the governor's office and the New York State Department of Environmental Conversation early next week.

We're told they plan to ask questions about why the raid was approved and what exactly was the reason the governor did it. applied for a search warrant for this house.

Langworthy says governor Kathy Hochul must answer these questions because the DEC director is her agent – and she has not provided a clear reason for the raid.

The congressman adds that this move was a complete overreach by the state government … causing an overreaction to what ultimately was just a raccoon and a squirrel in a private home.

Mark previously told us that state officials showed up at the couple's door last week with an arrest warrant signed by a judge and four government agencies. Officers took Peanut and a raccoon and killed them to test for rabies.
