The Las Vegas Raiders wanted the New York Jets to include wide receiver Mike Williams in the Gang Green trade for Davante Adams. However, New York did not give in to this request and ultimately sent Las Vegas a conditional third-round pick for 2025.

Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated reported this news The Rich Eisen Show (9:10 mark).

Williams was pushed out on the Jets' wideout depth chart with Adams now in town and Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard still there.

Williams signed a one-year, $10 million contract in free agency last offseason. But this was a quiet year for the former Los Angeles Charger, who had just 11 catches for 160 yards and no touchdowns in his return year due to a torn ACL he suffered in September 2023.

With the Jets struggling, New York hired Adams in hopes of boosting the offense by reuniting with old Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers.

Of course, that in turn pushed Williams down the rankings, so it's interesting that the Jets weren't willing to part with him in this case. However, the Jets could certainly send Williams to another team in a separate trade. They also ended up getting Adams, so it's not like the inclusion of Williams was a dealbreaker.

But things don't work out for Williams in New York. The Jets can't get anything going themselves either, as the team is on life support at 2-6. The promising offense has stalled, with New York averaging just 18.8 points per game (25th in the NFL).

At this point, the Jets are almost at the point where they are playing the string. It's possible New York goes on a great second-half run and contends for the playoffs, but right now they're already three games out of the AFC wild card list.

Ultimately, it's up to the Jets to trade Williams somewhere at this point in hopes of getting a draft pick and rebuilding for the future. We'll find out soon enough if that happens as the trade deadline approaches on November 5th.
