Nnamdi Madubuike: Kudos to the Browns, but we know who should have won

1 minute, 51 seconds Read

The Ravens trailed the Browns for most of Sunday's game in Cleveland, but it looked like they did just enough to eke out a win when Derrick Henry scored a touchdown in the final minutes of the game.

However, any hope that they would return to Baltimore with a win disappeared within minutes. Jameis Winston completed six passes to get the Browns into Ravens territory and then connected with Cedric Tillman for a 38-yard score that put the Browns back in the lead with 59 seconds left. The Ravens were able to throw a few shots into the end zone, but all of them fell incomplete and the Browns were able to enjoy a 29-24 victory.

When it was over, Ravens defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike said the loss was more about what the Ravens didn't do than what the Browns were able to accomplish.

“I have to get better. We all need to get better in terms of the running game, the passing game – everything,” Madubuike said in a team transcript. “Kudos to the Browns; They played a good game and won. Congratulations to her. But we know who should have won this game and that was all on us. We simply didn't take advantage of these opportunities and that hurts. But we have a new opponent in front of us and that’s what we’re really going to focus on.”

It's the expected turn of events for a Ravens team that feels like it missed a game on Sunday, but the Browns squad will feel like the win was a sign of what's still possible now that Deshaun is there Watson will not be in the game for the rest of the season. A lifeless team played with great energy and determination that paid off in the final seconds, and now there is new hope about what the future can hold in Cleveland.
