No love lost between Luka Doncic and Wolves fans

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving defeated the Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals last season and they did it again on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.

While Minnesota can cite 20 turnovers and abysmal free throws as the main reasons they failed to beat the Mavericks in the rematch, the highlight of the night was Doncic knocking down a 32-foot three-pointer with 1:04 to play to put Dallas ahead 117- 109 to take the lead.

After hitting the shot, Doncic stared into the crowd and shouted something to the Timberwolves fans. It hasn't been confirmed, but your average lip reader can probably tell exactly that he yelled, “That's what I'm fucking doing!”

Maybe the fans he was yelling at had that in mind? Everything is fine in love and basketball, right?

“I've heard a lot, they really like me here,” Doncic said afterward. “Last year was fun. It’s a big moment in my career, my life, so it was fun to be back.”

Doncic scored a decisive blow in Minnesota with a 3-pointer against Rudy Gobert and beat the Timberwolves in Game 2 of last season's Conference Finals. As iconic as that shot was in the moment, the 32-footer he made with Nickeil Alexander-Walker in his face was a more improbable shot.

“I don’t know how I can make these shots and non-normal shots,” Doncic said. “It’s just me.”

The Timberwolves appear to be a real contender, but Dallas clearly has the number one seed. Finding the secret sauce to stop Doncic and Irving will be one of the main storylines for every West contender over the next six months.
