Olivia Nuzzi ‘bombarded’ RFK Jr. with ‘increasingly pornographic’ messages: mutual friend

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is investigating a possible lawsuit against New York Magazine sexting writer Olivia Nuzzi, who a mutual friend says “bombarded him with increasingly pornographic photos and videos” while simultaneously getting him to release her numbers.

Kennedy, 70, has hired security expert Gavin de Becker to investigate the affair because he is allegedly pursuing civil and possibly criminal action against the 31-year-old star political reporter, according to Jessica Read Kraus, who knows the two.

“It had nothing to do with romance,” said de Becker about the sordid story. “He was hunted by porn.”

Nuzzi – who was placed on leave last week – is believed to have tricked the married politician into receiving her revealing messages after he initially blocked her number over a flirtatious remark she made just two weeks after publishing her profile about him in November 2023, Kraus said.

“A few weeks later, Nuzzi emailed him asking for the unblocking, claiming she had urgent information about a smear article being prepared against him,” Kraus wrote on her Substack “House Inhabit.”

“He unblocked her for that conversation, but later that evening she sent him a provocative picture, after which he blocked her again,” Kraus claimed.

Over the next eight months, Kraus said, Kennedy kept the Washington correspondent's number blocked – except for a few times when she contacted him from various email addresses and numbers, “insisting” on speaking to him for “urgent discussions about an upcoming smear piece.”

“After unblocking him, she bombarded him with increasingly pornographic photos and videos that he found difficult to resist. After a brief exchange, he blocked her again,” Kraus claimed.

Other friends with whom Kraus spoke were convinced that Nuzzi had allegedly set a trap for him.

The Post contacted Nuzzi about the recent allegations but did not initially receive a response.

Kraus, for her part, said she “unexpectedly” struck up a friendship with Nuzzi late last year as a result of their shared reporting on Kennedy – but she became suspicious when the reporter began bombarding her with personal questions about him.

“Olivia asked me almost intimate questions about him and his relationships with staff and his wife after every campaign stop – who he was talking to, what his mood was, and whether he was showing signs of flirting,” Kraus wrote.

“There was an underlying fascination that went beyond journalistic intrigue and bordered on obsession.

“Her constant demand for updates and the tone of her questions made it clear that she was not just reporting: she was spinning some kind of fantasy.”

Meanwhile, a source close to Kennedy had previously told the Washington Post that Nuzzi had become “obsessed” with the former candidate after she interviewed him at his home in California – and had stalked him via text message to such an extent that he had to block her several times.

“She came at him aggressively,” the source said. “She targeted him pretty hard. Bobby kept blocking her. It was a little scary. She was obsessed with him. I think she still is.”

Nuzzi's camp previously denied allegations that she was the aggressor and instigated the relationship, but did not deny that the digital rendezvous was turbulent at times.

“It is absolutely untrue that she was the aggressor, but both parties were aware of the high pressure and high risk of the circumstances and because of that, their communication was very erratic,” a person familiar with the situation told The Post.

The details came to light after Nuzzi was placed on leave from the magazine last week after admitting to a non-physical “personal relationship” with a former protagonist of the 2024 election campaign.

Sources told the Post that the star reporter allegedly engaged in sexting with Kennedy while she was engaged and he was married.

Kennedy, the son of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, is married to “Drop It, Larry!” actress Cheryl Hines.

Meanwhile, Nuzzi was engaged to fellow political reporter Ryan Lizza – but the couple has since separated.
