On the eve of Diwali, oil marking companies have decided to increase the commission paid to petrol pump dealers and streamline intra-state freight movement to help consumers in remote locations (far from petrol and diesel depots of OMCs). The decision will help bring down fuel prices in several parts of the country.

Official sources said this decision would be implemented later in poll-bound states and constituencies.

“This reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to bring even far-flung areas at par with the rest of the country in terms of facilities,” said Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri.

For Kaza in Himachal Pradesh, petrol price will be reduced by Rs 3.59 per liter and diesel price will be reduced by Rs 3.13 per liter. In Badrinath in Uttarakhand, petroleum price will fall by Rs 3.83 per liter and diesel price by Rs 3.27 per liter.

Puri said the increase in dealer commission would improve services to about 7 million citizens who visit fuel retail outlets in the country every day and that too without increasing fuel prices.

“Fulfillment of this demand, which has been pending for seven years, will bring happiness to the lives of petrol pump dealers and the nearly 1 lakh employees working at more than 83,000 petrol pumps across the country,” he said.
