Police are investigating a six-vehicle crash in northeast Albuquerque

Investigators said a car was speeding and crashed into parked cars at the intersection of San Pedro and Comanche.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police are investigating after a car collided with five other vehicles stopped at a red light in northeast Albuquerque.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of San Pedro Drive and Comanche Road.

Investigators said a Honda Civic was speeding south on San Pedro when it approached five vehicles stopped at a red light in Comanche. The Civic struck two cars in the right lane before colliding with an Infiniti sedan, causing the Infiniti to crash into a pickup truck in front of it. The Civic then crashed in the air into an SUV in the left lane.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an elderly man trapped in a vehicle. Medics then took him to the hospital. It is unknown which vehicle he was in.

According to police, the driver of the Civic remains in the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Infiniti was taken to the hospital as an “as an precaution” and is in stable condition.

The investigators are still investigating.
