Jacksonville police are reviewing shocking footage that went viral that appears to show police fighting with fans during the Georgia Bulldogs-Florida Gators game on Saturday.

The footage appears to show two Florida fans being tackled to the ground and beaten by police. An elderly fan is grabbed by a police officer and does not appear to defend himself against the officer, who is still beating him.

Another supporter appears to be pinned to a nearby staircase while another police officer throws punches.

A statement from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office on Saturday said it was aware of videos circulating from the Georgia-Florida football game.

“Administrative reviews of the incidents are underway. Therefore, the agency will not comment until all the facts are known and the reviews are completed.”

It's not clear what led police to become involved in the situation, or what brought them to the area in the first place.

As for the game itself, Georgia defeated rival Florida 34-20, setting a season record of 7-1, in a game known as “The Greatest Outdoor Cocktail Party in the World.”

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns to go along with three interceptions for the Bulldogs.

The Georgia-Florida rivalry is one of the biggest in college football. The game is routinely played on the two schools' campuses in Jacksonville, Florida – about 30 miles from the border between the two states.

Preparations for the game take most of the week – tailgates begin days before the actual game.

It was announced earlier this week that the 2026 and 2027 editions of the game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa as Everbank Field in Jacksonville undergoes renovations.
