Arson incidents The target was a pair of ballot boxes Investigations by the FBI and local law enforcement authorities continue earlier this week in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon.

The The Portland Police Bureau announced this on Wednesday They were looking for a 30- to 40-year-old white male suspect with bald or very short hair, a thin to medium build and a narrow face. The police believe that the suspect has excellent knowledge of metal processing and welding. And they said he might try to attack more ballot boxes.

In Washington, Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey said Wednesday afternoon the county had recovered 494 ballots from the Vancouver box.

Of those, 488 had sufficient information to identify voters and 6 did not. Of the 488 ballots where the voter could be identified, 345 of the voters have already received a replacement ballot. Some of these people got a replacement online, others had one mailed to them.

Replacement ballots were expected to be sent to the other 143 affected people on Thursday morning. It was unclear how many ballots may have been completely burned.

Police said the vehicle involved in the incidents is most likely a 2001 to 2004 Volvo S60, with a matte finish in some areas rather than the standard glossy finish, a tan or light gray interior, a retrofitted grill with a missing Volvo emblem and dark wheels, unpainted body panels and no front license plate.

The damaged ballot box in Washington was at the Fisher's Landing Transit Center in Vancouver.

Voters who cast their ballot in the ballot box between Saturday and Monday morning at 11 a.m. should leave www.votewa.gov to see if your ballot has been received. To obtain a replacement, call Clark County Election office at (564) 397-2345 or email (email protected).
