SCRANTON — President Joe Biden visited his old stomping grounds Saturday, just three days before the 2024 general election.

The stop in his hometown of Scranton was for political engagement. In return, a small but supportive crowd thanked him.

It is the second time in recent months that President Biden has returned to Scranton.

The Saturday afternoon visit was part of a “Get Out To Vote” event. He was joined by about a hundred people who thanked him for the unions' support.

“Three days until election day. The stakes couldn't be higher, the choice couldn't be clearer, and many politicians have a hard time saying the word union, but I'm not one of them,” President Biden said.

These words from President Joe Biden were said in front of nearly 100 people at Carpenters Local Union Meeting Hall 445.

The president spoke for about ten minutes and even brought his granddaughter Natalie with him.

He spoke mostly about his and Vice President Kamala Harris's support of unions and his efforts to protect pensions.

The president's trip to the city began with his arrival at Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport, where he was escorted to the venue along with Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti (D).

Event attendees watched union support videos, enjoyed a bite to eat and sipped hot chocolate before saying “Thanks to Joe.”

“We're here to give him a nice farewell, a nice farewell and hopefully get another four years of a president who will work with the unions and get us better wages. He stood up for us and that’s why we’re giving him a good send-off,” said Carpenter Union member Eddie Pomykzz.

“And every time you’ve never met Joe Biden, he’s one of us. “He is a good, honest person who works very hard to do the right thing for the people he represents,” said Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski (D), 112th District.

This is Biden's third visit to the local union.

The first was for the 2020 election, the second also during his presidency.
