Schools across the Denver metro area are forced to close and delay their openings due to snow

School districts across the Denver metro area announced closures and delayed openings Wednesday due to heavy snowfall in the region.

CBS Colorado meteorologists called for a First Alert Weather Day on Wednesday, forecasting 5 to 10 inches along the southeast and southwest portions of the metro area, 2 to 7 inches northeast of Denver and 1 to 5 inches closer to the city.

As of Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., the following closures and delayed openings were in effect:

• AKRON SCHOOLS: Closed today
• ALL SOULS SCHOOL: 1 hour and 30 minutes late
• AMBLESIDE SCHOOL IN CENTENNIAL: Delayed by 1 hour and 30 minutes
• AMERICAN ACADEMY: 90 minutes delayed
• ARAPAHOE COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Castle Rock 10 a.m. delayed start
• ARAPAHOE LIBRARY DIST: 1 hour delayed
• AVE MARIA CATHOLIC SCHOOL: 1 hour and 30 minutes late
• BENNETT SCHOOL DIST 29-J: Closed today
• BYERS SCHOOL DIST 32J: Closed today
• CASTLE ROCK SENIOR CENTER: Closed today
• CHERRY HILLS CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS: 1 hour late
• CRESCENT VIEW ACADEMY: Closed today
• DEER TRAIL SCHOOL: Closed today
• DENVER CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS: Late start – 10:00 a.m. start time
• DOUGCO SCHOOL DIST: ALL SCHOOLS: 90 minutes late
• DOUGLAS COUNTY GOVERNMENT OFFICES: Delayed 1 hour and 30 minutes
• ELBERT SCHOOL DIST #200: Closed today
• ELIZABETH SCHOOL DIST: Closed today
• FLEMING SCHOOL: Closed today
• JEFFCO PUBLIC LIBRARY: The Columbine, Golden and Evergreen Libraries will open at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, November 6th
• REGIS JESUIT HIGH SCHOOL: Closed today
• SOUTHEAST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL: 90 minutes late
• ST. LUKE'S LITTLE SCHOOL: 90 minutes late
• ST. MARY OF LITTLETON PARISH AND SCHOOL: Closed today
• ST. MARYS ACADEMY: 30 minutes delayed
• ST. THOMAS MORE: 1 hour late
