Seahawks sign T McClendon Curtis from practice squad, place T George Fant on injured list

1 minute, 27 seconds Read

The Seahawks signed tackle McClendon Curtis from their practice squad, adding depth at the position as George Fant deals with a knee injury sustained in Seattle's season-opening win over the Broncos.

Fant was placed on the injured list to make room on the 53-man roster, meaning he will miss at least four games before potentially being eligible to play again.

In addition, the Seahawks have called up two players from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Dolphins: linebacker Patrick O'Connell and outside linebacker Tyus Bowser.

With a spot open, the Seahawks re-signed Marquise Blair to the practice squad, a former second-round pick who signed in August, began the season on the practice squad and was released on Wednesday.

Bowser, a 2017 second-round pick, provides depth at fullback with Boye Mafe and Derick Hall both listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Bowser is new to the Seahawks, having signed on Aug. 30, but the eighth-year pro is familiar with Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald and his defense, having spent his entire career in Baltimore. Bowser's best season came in 2021, when he started all 17 games and recorded 7.0 sacks, 59 tackles and 15 quarterback hits. However, that season ended with a torn Achilles tendon that limited Bowser to nine games in 2022. He then missed the entire 2023 season due to a knee injury.

O'Connell, who signed with the Seahawks last year as an undrafted free agent out of Montana, spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad and appeared in just one game. He gives the Seahawks additional depth at inside linebacker with Jerome Baker questionable due to a hamstring injury. Rookie Tyrice Knight is expected to start alongside middle linebacker Tyrel Dodson if Baker is indeed unable to play.
