The Buffalo Bills' stunning 34-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 7 has fans and the Buffalo coaching staff alike excited about what's to come thanks to the debut of wide receiver Amari Cooper.

The recently acquired wideout recovered after dropping a pass on the Bills' first drive and finished the game with four receptions for 66 yards and a 12-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott gave an enthusiastic review of Cooper's debut after the win, praising him for quickly improving to make an immediate impact on the team.

“I know there's been talk about what Coop did, it's good to have him here,” McDermott said. “He made an impact in just four days, really four teachable and learnable days, and then he came out here and there on the fifth day.” His execution was impressive. I give him credit for the time he was able to put in with DJ Mangas (the offensive quality control coach), in which case both the player and the coach put in extra time to come out and perform the way he did has.”

In addition to the manga-led crash course in the playbook, Cooper also credited his former team for some of his quick adjustment process. Cooper began the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns in an offense led by coordinator Ken Dorsey; The former quarterback was on Buffalo's coaching staff for five seasons and served as the team's offensive coordinator for nearly two years. There are some similar concepts and terminology between the Bills and Browns' plans, which has helped the 10th-year wideout hit the ground running.

The trade seemingly rejuvenated Cooper, who had his second-best statistical game of the season in his Bills debut. While it's still incredibly early, he's shaping up to be an invaluable addition to Buffalo's offense. He is often ranked among the NFL's best route runners, and his veteran presence is much needed in a receiving corps that has struggled so far this year in Buffalo. His calming demeanor is great for a team whose star receivers haven't done so in the past.

Cooper was as impressive as he could have been in his debut with the team and McDermott is pleased with his performance. His play should only improve as he continues to familiarize himself with the playbook.
