Sean McVay repeats: Rams not trading Cooper Kupp

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sean McVay doubled and tripled down on his comments Thursday night that the Rams didn't expect to trade star receiver Cooper Kupp.

“This is not a step we want to take,” he said Friday morning. Kupp was the subject of trade inquiries from other teams throughout October before the November 5th deadline, as The athlete reported Monday morning (and originally reported by NFL Network). In both Thursday and Friday press conferences, McVay confirmed that discussions about Kupp have taken place between the Rams and other teams, but said the Rams are not proactively seeking a trade.

“He’s a Ram and we expect it to stay that way,” McVay added.

Kupp returned to the field Thursday night in the Rams' 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2. He had five catches for 51 yards and a touchdown and drew two pass interference penalties that proved costly to the Vikings. Kupp's return also helps activate the Rams' running game as a blocker and movement player.

“I thought Cooper played really well last night,” McVay said. “I thought some of the things that weren't on the stat sheet were important – going against the ball to get PIs. … He's such a tough player, he's such a great leader for us. He has everything that is right about the Rams. I love Cooper Kupp and I’m glad he’s on this team.”
