The Denver Broncos cleaned things up with a 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. You might not have known who won if you had skipped the game and just watched coach Sean Payton's postgame press conference.

Carolina's only two goals both came after turnovers in Denver. After the game, Payton frequently pointed out the team's mistakes.

“(I'm) glad we got the win, (but) there are a few things when you look at the tape that I'm sure we'll see tomorrow that we need to clean up and correct.” ” said Payton. “And there will be some things that we really like and that we did well. We can't keep turning the ball over. It’s frustrating and I didn’t like the way it ended, but it was good to get a win.”

Unprompted, Payton later again referenced Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Courtland Sutton's fumbles.

“(We had) two wide receiver fumbles,” Payton said. “(It) just is what it is. It bothers you.”

The Panthers fell to 1-7 after Sunday's game, and Payton knows the Broncos won't win games with two turnovers against better opponents.

“I told them, ‘We’re going to play bigger games than this. But in bigger games than this, some of those (mistakes) are going to cost us,” Payton said. “So we have to take care of it.”

Payton wasn't even happy with the defense, which played well before giving up a 98-yard drive that ended with a touchdown late in the fourth.

“I wish we had done better,” Payton said. “I said this, it’s not a good offense that we played. It's simply the truth. So that’s what we expected and we’re going to see a lot better teams.”

Next up for Denver is a road game against the Baltimore Ravens (5-3), followed by another road game against the Kansas City Chiefs (7-0).

“We have a big game this week against a much better team,” Payton said.
