Most of East Texas is currently at a low risk of severe weather (Level 2/5), while our northern counties are at an elevated risk (Level 3/5). Southerly winds will be fairly breezy throughout the day, causing highs to reach into the lower 80s.

Rain and storm chances will increase late this afternoon as a few isolated storms could develop across our western and northwest counties. Any storms that can form on their own can produce all types of severe weather, including tornadoes. This first round of isolated storms isn't a guarantee, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

Our second round of potential severe weather will arrive this evening in the form of a strong line of strong storms and heavy rainfall. This line of storms is expected to move steadily through East Texas during the overnight hours and may even last into the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Damaging winds, large hail and embedded tornadoes are possible with this line of storms. So make sure your phones are charged overnight and make sure you have more than one way to receive weather alerts, such as: B. via your phone. TV or weather radio.

Once the storms end on Tuesday, our temperatures will finally feel like November for the rest of the week, with highs in the low to mid 70s. It's been a while since East Texas has been threatened by severe storms. Please make sure you and your family know where to go in the event of a tornado warning for your area.
