Studs and duds from the Lions' Week 8 win over the Titans

1 minute, 2 seconds Read

Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph (31) tackles Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard (20) during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit, Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024.

Two strong Lions players got off to bad starts and helped Tennessee gain early momentum. Left tackle Taylor Decker and safety Kerby Joseph won't enjoy the first quarter film study.

Decker was soundly beaten in the first quarter by Titans end Arden Key on three pressures and two sacks, including a strip sack (the Lions recovered). Joseph was knocked out by defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn after reacting too late on a few plays in the first quarter, including Mason Rudolph's touchdown run and also a deep pass to Calvin Ridley that left Joseph standing instead of providing the deep help that needed he actually should have provided receiver.

They all returned the favor with strong, effective play for the rest of the game. Decker figured out how to handle Key's inside move and completely shut him down afterward, and he did a great job blocking Gibbs' long TD run. Joseph came through with a great interception that took the wind out of the Titans' offensive sails midway through the second quarter. After his slow start, he finished with six tackles and two PDs.
