Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis takes steps toward return

The Tennessee Titans begin preparations for their Week 9 game against the New England Patriots and could see the return of second-year quarterback Will Levis.

Levis, 25, has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury. During this time, Levis did not hope that the injury would heal with rest. However, this was not the case at the first training session of the week.

“Titans QB Will Levis threw today unlike previous weeks,” tweeted ESPN insider Turron Davenport. “Make of it what you will, but he was at the front of the line when the QBs wanted to throw.”

While this isn't a guarantee that Levis will be available on Sunday, it's a sign that he's moving in the right direction.

Coach Brian Callahan spoke about Levis and the possibility of his return in his pre-practice press conference.

“We'll try to get a feel for where he's at after some rest, see how he feels when he throws the ball and see what he looks like,” Callahan said via team reporter Jim Wyatt. “The more important part for Will right now will be not just today, but throwing Thursday, Friday, days in a row, to see how that goes. If he's feeling good and ready, we'll increase (his throwing).'' Get up and look where he is.

The Titans will evaluate Levis and see how he feels today before likely throwing again in practice on Thursday and Friday. If Levis is ready to go after all this work, there's a good chance he can reclaim his spot under center and return for the Titans when they face the Patriots in Week 9.
