The Chiefs remain undefeated as Patrick Mahomes seeks revenge against the Raiders

The very old song advises not to tug on Superman's cape. And for our purposes, Patrick Mahomes is Superman.

The Raiders messed with the wrong guy in the offseason and mocked Mahomes for not having a voice worthy of the Metropolitan Opera. and on Sunday night they watched the Kansas City Chiefs get another win at their expense.

Fired Raiders bow

“They’re doing a good job,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters about the Raiders. “Their head coach enjoys playing against us. They are thrilled. And I’m glad we were able to answer that.”

Here is the answer:

Chiefs 27.

Raiders 20.

How did that make you feel, Patrick?

“It’s a rivalry,” Mahomes said. “It goes back further than anyone else on this football pitch. No matter what the records are, you know it's going to be a fight. It's going to be a fight every single snap, there's going to be no giving up, and they've got one. “There's a lot of people on this team that have a lot of pride.

“We did a good job. They made some plays, we made some plays and found a way to win.”

Mahomes is ahead

Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off another win and are the only undefeated team in the NFL with a record of 7-0, which isn't all that unexpected since they are the reigning Super Bowl champions and the goal for this season is to reach three goals is.

But the facts after this game make one wonder why Raiders players would tease Mahomes about anything. Always.

Mahomes has never lost a game against the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium and has won all six games there. He has an 11-2 record against the Raiders over his career.

And he just posted one of his best games this season – with his highest passer rating since the season opener and the most touchdown passes (2) of any game this season.

“Pat had a nice day…there were a few touchdowns there, which I thought was a positive,” Reid said. “He had a good day, I thought the guys ran good routes, the protection was good, and when that wasn't the case, he moved around and made some plays.”

The Chiefs have a great defense again

The Raiders did some incredibly wild things in this game. First, they managed to get an interception against Mahomes, which was his ninth in seven games this season.

And that pick by free safety Tre'von Moehring gave Las Vegas the ball at the Kansas City 3-yard line. The Raiders had a chance to take the lead if Möhring scored.

Or their offense was scored.

Neither happened.

Four offensive plays later, the Raiders were stifled and not only kept out of the end zone, but not scored at all, marking a historic development.

“That was great,” Mahomes said. “The defense made a big stop and we turned it into a win.”

The Raiders are now 2-6. And they have a lot of questions about quarterback play, the play-caller and their future.

“I think overall we're a team that we need to improve on,” coach Antonio Pierce said. “We were competitive today. I'm not going to get into play-calling or anything like that. I'm sure there are questions out there about what I did…”
