When former President Trump stopped in Albuquerque on Thursday, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham commented on the visit.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — When former President Donald Trump stopped in Albuquerque on Thursday, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham spoke about the visit.

“No wonder, right? He went straight into sowing division and hatred, that immigrants in general were bad,” Lujan Grisham said.

The former president also falsely claimed he won the last two presidential elections in New Mexico.

“The fact that he says he won New Mexico in his last election, the last two, is outrageous. “Voter denial in a state that is number one in the country for election integrity is so outrageous,” Lujan Grisham said.

The Democratic governor also commented on the fact that Trump said he would protect women whether they want it or not.

“Here's my message from the women of New Mexico: They don't like it, and they will vigorously oppose it. It was a threatening, menacing statement,” Lujan Grisham said.

Despite her views, Lujan Grisham said she believes every New Mexican should have the opportunity to see and support the candidate they choose.

Ahead of the rally, parking was raised as an issue, prompting Democratic leaders to face backlash.

Lujan Grisham blamed the Republican Party for pushing New Mexicans to the center.

“The Republican Party should have asked for help to facilitate a safe, viable and productive rally, and instead they turned on Democratic politicians and elected officials, and that's not what this is about,” Lujan Grisham said.

Lujan Grisham has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. As for whether or not she's willing to serve in Harris' Cabinet, she says she wants to focus on New Mexico for now.

“I have a lot more work to do here, and this is really premature,” Lujan Grisham said. “It will need Democratic governors to implement these policy plans on the ground that will improve quality of life, create better economic opportunities and lower kitchen prices for families. And I want to help.”

Lujan Grisham also said she was glad Trump was able to hold the rally and that New Mexicans were able to attend.

Regardless of who they vote for, the governor stressed she wants all New Mexicans to get out and vote.
