Franchise films are all the rage at all studios these days, meaning sequels are often more in demand than original ideas. If you're Pixar, a studio that might only release one film a year, even the fact that there are several different sequels in development could mean you're only getting sequels in the years to come. Pixar has many sequels compared to its total production. And after the overwhelming success of Inside Out 2you have to ask yourself whether Inside Out 3 is not too far away.

After recently releasing several original films, it appears that Pixar is moving back into a “franchise mode” where sequels will be the focus. Most of the upcoming Pixar films that we know of are sequels, and given the success of Inside Out 2it certainly seems that sequels are successful. Inside Out 2 Director Kelsey Mann was asked by Empire about the possibility Inside Out 3 And while he says there's nothing planned at the moment, he's also very honest that it's definitely a possibility. Man explained…

People are pretty open. They are open to another film. They want to make sure we live up to it. But people are excited to see Riley's life – her whole life. They want to see Riley grow up. … We haven’t had any conversations. Mainly because the movie came out and I took a break. But there are so many great ideas that we couldn't incorporate into this film or the original. I really hope these ideas find a home one day.
