The New York Yankees conjure playoff spirits with old-fashioned turtlenecks

The New York Yankees have long been an organization proud of the history and tradition of winning championships in the past.

So, after a 15-year drought without a World Series appearance, it's no surprise that some of the big names on the roster are trying to capitalize on the mystique that comes with wearing the Yankees uniform in the postseason.

Fans have noticed that several Yankees have brought back the turtleneck look, seemingly paying homage to the teams of the late 1990s and 2000s.

The turtlenecks are a great look for the baseball postseason, especially for Yankees fans, considering how similar they look to what players like Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivers and Jorge Posada wore in October.

However, it turns out that these are the very ones that these legendary teams used to wear. According to YES Network's Justin Shackil, the turtlenecks gracing the screen today are exactly those from Dynasty.

The Yankees literally pulled the turtlenecks out of storage.

Not only does it look good on the field, but the decision to go with the old-school turtlenecks also appears to have given the Yankees a bit of a shock as they summon the spirits that have come to them for the first time in 15 years to help reach the World Series years.

When it comes to winning the World Series, anything is possible.
