The Republican pollster warns urgently about what a Trump victory means for the Supreme Court

Longtime Republican pollster Frank Luntz issued a stark warning to worried Democratic voters Tuesday ahead of Donald Trump's re-election bid. He said the president-elect will likely select two more U.S. Supreme Court justices, after already selecting three in his first term as president.

Luntz shared his prediction live during NewsNation's election coverage after officials called two swing states, Georgia and North Carolina, as well as the Senate in Trump's favor — noting that the latter would make his influence on the Supreme Court more effective than ever.

“The Supreme Court, if the Senate goes red and Trump is most likely elected at this point … whoever he wants will end up on the Supreme Court,” Luntz said after joining moderators Chris Cuomo, Leland Vittert and Elisabeth Vargas , per Mediaite.

“That's about the biggest impact you can have this election night, because there are a few judges who are probably going to retire in the next year or two,” he continued.

Trump has previously nominated Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, creating a conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court that will hear the Roe v. decision in 2022. Wade repealed the 1973 federal right to abortion.

Trump told MSNBC's Chris Matthews in 2015 that “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who have abortions, but earlier this year also refused to answer whether he would veto it during his second term as president would institute a nationwide ban on abortion.

Luntz did not predict which justices Trump would nominate over the next four years, but noted that their influence would also help Trump “advance his economic policies,” which apparently include replacing the federal income tax with high tariffs – a policy in favor of the rich.

“If he has the Senate, it will be easier for him to push his economic policies, and some of it doesn't even require congressional approval, but if you look for it, these tariff policies are more likely than not to come into play,” Luntz added .

Trump, whose refusal to recognize the 2020 election influenced the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021 and who was convicted in a hush money trial just months ago, will retake the White House on January 20, 2025.
