Happy Sunday evening everyone. After occasional scattered rain and storms today, with highs remaining in the 60s, it will still remain active over the next 24 hours. With our next cold front on the way we need to be on the lookout for some strong to possibly severe storms tonight, following our first day of weather alerts on Monday there is a risk of severe afternoon/evening and a risk of flooding that will stay with us into early Tuesday morning .

Storms originating from Oklahoma and parts of Kansas should move into the Ozarks by late evening. In a worst-case scenario, I expect these storms to be strong, with some having the potential to produce wind gusts around 60 miles per hour. While the chance of an isolated tornado is low, the greater tornado threat will remain in southeastern Oklahoma this evening. Even if these storms move on, this will keep most of the Ozarks unsettled this evening with rain and storms still on the radar through Monday morning.

After starting Monday with a chance of storms, parts of the region could see a lull as some peaks of sunshine try to return. This could attempt to destabilize the atmosphere before the cold front triggers a line of strong to severe storms as early as 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

As the line passes through the western half of the Ozarks through the evening, there will be strong to severe winds with a high wind threat and the possibility of a few isolated tornadoes along the line. Storms will weaken as the day begins, but will continue to weaken over the eastern Ozarks. After the trip on Tuesday morning the rain will stop and there will be some sunshine again during the afternoon.

As for the additional rain, many of us could see an additional 2 to 5 inches of rain, with some locations potentially seeing another 6 inches of rain before the rainy weather tapers off on Tuesday.

As for temperatures, our southerly wind ahead of the cold front will keep us mild temperatures tonight and Monday. After morning lows fall into the lower 60s, we will see highs attempt to climb back into the lower to mid 70s on Monday afternoon.

Behind our passing cold front, we will see numbers dip into the 50s Tuesday morning before rising back into the mid 60s Tuesday afternoon.

A quick look at the rest of the week shows that levels will remain in the mid to upper 60s through next weekend.

Although I see dry conditions returning Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday, there is a chance that another system could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the Ozarks again on Thursday. After that, our Friday should remain calm with partly sunny skies before another chance of rain over the weekend.
