Tim Walz speaks to voters in Michigan about abortion during the latest campaign rally

Tim Walz spoke about abortion rights in a barely five-minute address to Michigan voters Monday night to wrap up his final campaign rally before Election Day.

At a star-studded campaign rally at Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit on the eve of Election Day, which included an appearance by Jon Bon Jovi and others, Walz told rally attendees that he wanted to talk to them about “a particular topic.”

“Everything is at stake,” Walz began in his brief address from downtown Detroit. “But I want to use this evening to talk about a particular issue that really highlights how much is at stake. Let me speak to the men in the audience tonight. I want you to think about the women in your life who love you. “Their lives are at stake in this election,” Walz continued, before criticizing Trump for “appointing Supreme Court justices who Roe v. Wade picked up.”

“And he brags about it,” Walz added. “He’s glad that the women you think of – and love – have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers.”

Walz complained that women were allegedly turned away from emergency rooms and forced to have miscarriages in the parking lot, blaming Trump and his work to repeal federal abortion protections. Walz also blamed Trump for causing rape victims to carry unwanted pregnancies. Such claims by Walz – that state abortion laws have led to the deaths of pregnant women – previously brought him attention on the campaign trail of OB-GYNS, which criticized Walz for claiming during a debate with Walz that a Georgia woman was dead because of the state's abortion laws State died his opponent, Sen. Walz did not address other political topics during his nearly five-minute speech, which was preceded by his wife Gwen and Michigan's Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Walz previously campaigned in several locations in Wisconsin, including Milwaukee.
