ForbesToday's NYT “Connections” tips and answers for Saturday, October 26 (#503)

Hello folks! I hope you have an excellent, uplifting weekend. I recently secured tickets to a series of concerts that I plan to attend between February and April. Before all that, though, there's the small matter of my third Bruce Springsteen appearance this week. I can barely wait for it.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Sunday, October 27th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be items you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution and you need to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you're close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you're one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let's make sure that this doesn't happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today's ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access this with an All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

Today Connections Answers are…

  • Yellow Group – Naughty (CUTE, FRESH, Smart, Clever)

  • Blue Group – Units (BAR, BEL, LUX, MOLE)
  • Purple group – little ____ (MERMAID, PRINCE, BITCH, TRAMP)

My last series of four wins is over. This is what happened to me:

🟨🟨🟦🟨

🟨🟩🟨🟦

🟨🟨🟩🟨

🟩🟩🟩🟩

🟨🟦🟨🟨

That top line made me smile, I can't lie.

I got the purple shades first, even though I was thinking of characters from Disney movies – the company has a movie called ” rascal in 1969. I thought about it too The Little Mermaid and TRAMP in relation to Lady and the ____. In any case, I was happy to have what was supposed to be the toughest group behind me.

I chose CUTE, FRESH, LUX and SMART, which are the words used to describe a chic outfit. I changed strategy and discovered the greens. But things went downhill from there.

I made a few more guesses that were supposed to fit CUTE, SMART, and FRESH (I thought that was slang I'm somehow not familiar with), but unfortunately, none of them were wise.

Other than BAR, I don't think I've ever heard of any of the blues used in relation to measurements. However, I did at least take something away from this by learning that a BEL is 10 decibels (because of course it is) and a LUX is one lumen per square meter. The more you know!

That's all for today Connections Hints and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and the walkthrough for Monday's game if you need them.

PS: I'll leave the October Horror theme aside for today's recommendation. Given the top row of today's grid, how on earth could I use anything other than this:

Unless there's a surprise in the next game, I have a great horror movie recommendation in mind for tomorrow. See you then.
