Travis Kelce is pleased with his performance in his final NFL game after a “difficult start” to the season.

“He felt good about it,” a source told Page Six about what the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end thought about his game against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. “This is the Travis he always is and always was.”

The insider shares that Kelce's teammates and those around him aren't surprised that the star player has returned to form, adding, “This isn't news to anyone.”

According to NBC, Kelce had five catches for 74 yards in the first half alone and then finished the game with 89 yards on seven receptions. The Chiefs ultimately defeated the Chargers 17-10.

Before Sunday, the Super Bowl champions had not caught more than 34 yards in a game this season.

“He's had a tough start to the season,” our source admits, “but he's back on track. “He's going to kill it.”

Kelce isn't naive to the criticism he's received recently, admitting on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast that he's been “struggling with statistics.”

However, he stressed on his Wednesday show: “I still played winning football and that's all that matters” as the Chiefs are unbeaten so far this season.

Kelce added that he thought he was “responsible” when he played against the Chargers on Sunday.

“I didn't have any lapses – what happened in Atlanta and made me feel like I had a bad game, but I still didn't have a great game,” he said. “It takes a lot to have a great game.”

When Kelce was in the midst of his slow start, many sports analysts blamed his performance on the athlete's “jet-setting lifestyle” with girlfriend Taylor Swift.

“Every show I watch, every pregame show, every halftime show, every postgame show, every show I’ve seen in the last few weeks, it’s like we don’t “Can I say he’s out of shape?” That’s what ESPN analyst Todd McShay said in September.

Since the backlash, Swift has opted out of attending two games in a row – a stark contrast to the enthusiastic support she showed in the first two games.

However, a source exclusively told Page Six on Tuesday that the Grammy winner's absence was due to her busy schedule as she will soon be resuming her Eras tour, rather than any romantic issues.

We're also told that Swift, 34, felt safer when the Chiefs played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium because she had worked with the team there “so often” and she “felt comfortable” there.

The insider emphasized: “To go to all possible stadiums, you have to send a team in advance.”

The Chiefs' next game is scheduled for October 7 against the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium.
