The Israeli government is pleased with Trump's victory, but fears that Biden will increase the pressure in the final days

The Israeli government is pleased with Trump's election victory but fears that the US may increase pressure on Israel in the final days of the Biden administration, two Israeli officials told NBC News.

An official said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was among the first world leaders to congratulate Trump, may seek to end the war in Gaza early in Trump's term to hand the new president a quick diplomatic victory.

Israel expects Trump's victory to mean a more aggressive U.S. stance toward Iran and more freedom for Israel to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank.

But while the administration looks forward to Trump's inauguration in January, officials are keenly aware that they will still have to deal with the outgoing Biden administration over the next two months. In particular, they fear that the United States will cut off or limit military support if Israel fails to meet the U.S. deadline of mid-November to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, as Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin threatened last month.

As Trump moved ever closer to the Oval Office, Americans living abroad watched the election results at parties around the world.

At an election party in Bangkok organized by Republicans Overseas, Dan Deese said he was happy to see Trump in charge. “They will defend America's best interests, such as avoiding wars or using tariffs wisely,” Deese, 58, who is originally from Missouri, said of Republicans.

At an overseas Democratic party in the same city, Lane Rosen said she was worried about rising taxes. “As an American in Thailand, I still pay taxes to the U.S., so U.S. tax policy is important to me,” said Rosen, 27, of North Carolina.

Jamie Brennan, chairman of Democrats Abroad Thailand, said: “We view this election as monumental for Americans living abroad.”

The parties also attracted people from outside the U.S., some of whom were concerned about Trump's commitment to Washington's alliances and partnerships.

“I think NATO is an important point,” said Cyrill Engelmann, 33, of Germany, who expressed support for Harris and expressed concern about a possible U.S. move away from the military alliance under a Trump presidency.

A “treasure chest” full of miniature bottles of alcohol, shot glasses and hats has been provided for town officials dropping off voting materials in Genesee County, Michigan.

Michigan has a decentralized election process, leaving county and local election officials to manage voting systems.

In Genesee County, ballots are processed and tabulated at each polling location. From there, the voting materials (e.g. poll books, data carriers, etc.) are brought to the reception desk in each community for verification.

Domonique Clemons, Genesee County's city clerk, said he implemented the idea of ”celebrating” and “recognizing” city clerks after seeing something similar in a neighboring county.

“The idea behind it, of course, was just to understand the stress and complexity of this election, because of course it's a big Trump presidential election, but a lot of new policies and changes in state law have added a lot of stress to our local employees. Threats, all sorts of things, just something small to celebrate and acknowledge,” he said.
