As Hurricane Helene strengthens on its way north toward Florida, all eyes are on the location of the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore.

If a Cantore is spotted in your town, there is usually a good chance the storm is heading there.

His whereabouts are being tracked on a Facebook page called “Tracking Jim Cantore.” As of Wednesday, Cantore was in Port Richey, Florida. Port Richey is a city south of Hudson Beach in Pasco County on the Gulf of Mexico with a population of more than 3,300, according to U.S. Census data.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Cantore said the threat to the Southeast from Hurricane Helene “cannot be underestimated.”

“This will be a historic storm for many, including the southern Appalachians, with flooding and storm damage,” Cantore's post said. “Pray I'm wrong, I would like that too. Everyone, stay safe and protect your families and property as best you can.”

“We are preparing for the kaboom phase and getting ready to turn toward Florida and the southeastern U.S.,” Cantore said in an Instagram post Wednesday morning along with a satellite image of the storm. “As it strengthens, the deeper inland the winds and power outages will be.”

Here's a look at where the other Weather Channel reporters were stationed on Wednesday:

  • Molly McCollum, Sarasota

  • Paul Goodloe, Apalachicola

  • Alex Wallace, Tampa

  • Mike Bettes, Cedar Key

  • Justin Michaels, Tallahassee

  • Charles Peek, Tallahassee

  • Chris Warren, Perry

  • Reynolds Wolf, Atlanta, Georgia

  • Chris Bruin, Valdosta, Georgia
