Watch the ceremony honoring the victims of October 25th on Friday evening

LEWISTON – The 1st anniversary event of the Lewiston mass shooting takes place tonight at The Colisée, a memorial service organized by the OneLewiston Resilience Fund Committee in collaboration with the City of Lewiston, the Maine Resiliency Center and the Lewiston Auburn Metro Chamber of Commerce .

The event will honor and remember the 18 people killed by gunfire at Just-in-Time Recreation and Schemenges Bar & Grille. In addition, 13 survivors who were shot at these sites will be honored, as well as dozens more injured and everyone affected by this tragedy. The event also serves to honor first responders, medical personnel and others who have helped and continue to support the community's healing efforts.

The free and public program begins at 6:00 p.m. and is scheduled to last until 7:30 p.m.; Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. to accommodate the expected large crowd.

The entire event will be livestreamed using American Sign Language and closed captioning on sunjournal.com.

Attendees are asked to bring small keepsakes and memorabilia at the end of the event, all of which will be cataloged and preserved as part of the growing Maine MILL collection related to the filming.

Parking at the Colisée is limited on Fridays. Visitors are asked to use the Southern Gateway or Oak Street parking garages and take advantage of the free shuttle service to and from the event. Shuttles will depart from these two parking garages at 4:00 p.m. and will continue after the event to return visitors to their vehicles. The last shuttle return is scheduled for 8:30 p.m
