In his closing remarks on Tuesday Vice President DebateMinnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz said he was “surprised as much as anyone” by the support Vice President Kamala Harris has received from a wide range of political persuasions.

“Supporting democracy is important,” Walz said at the end of the debate, which was moderated by CBS News in New York. “I’m as surprised as anyone in this coalition that Kamala Harris has built, from Bernie Sanders to Dick Cheney to Taylor Swift and a whole host of people in between.”

“They don’t agree on everything, but they’re really optimistic people,” he continued. “They believe in a positive future for this country and one in which our politics can be better than they are.”

He said Harris stands for “opportunity economics that works for everyone” and “the idea that freedom really means something, not the freedom of the government to be in your bedroom or exam room, but the freedom to make decisions about yourself.” .”

Walz said voters “know who Donald Trump is” and that Republican Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, his opponent, “made it clear during the debate that he will support Donald Trump's agenda.”

Harris offers another option, he said.

“Kamala Harris brings us a politics of joy,” he said. “It brings real solutions to the middle class and puts you at the center.”
