Weather-related suspension of West Virginia vs. Kansas game after lightning strike in Morgantown

The competition on Saturday afternoon between West Virginia And Kansas was interrupted due to weather with 10:43 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Lightning was spotted near Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown.

According to NCAA rules, play cannot resume until 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike occurred within eight miles of the stadium. At the time of the stoppage, the Jayhawks were leading 21-17.

This is the second time this season that a WVU home game has had to be postponed due to weather. The opening game against Penn State also had to be halted due to lightning. That delay lasted more than two hours, so let's hope it goes a little quicker this time.

Kansas trailed 14-7 at halftime, but scored a touchdown on the first drive of the second half to tie the game. Jalon Daniels found Luke Grimm with a seven-yard touchdown, which was the quarterback's first touchdown of the game.

WVU scored a field goal on the next drive to take the lead again, 17-14. Kansas wasn't done there, however, and responded with another touchdown to take the lead for the first time in the game. Daniel Hishaw ran the ball in from 10 meters away.

The Jayhawks have been very successful on the ground so far, scoring 197 yards and two touchdowns. The Mountaineers have already suffered two turnovers.

They will need to limit their mistakes if they are to bounce back from the weather-related delay in the West Virginia-Kansas game.

West Virginia Security Aubrey Burke had to leave the team after an injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Kansas. Burks was seen wearing a neck brace on the ground near the Mountaineers bench.

Sideline reporter Lauren Sisler It was announced on the broadcast that the WVU defender was suffering from a back injury and was taken to the hospital shortly after for further evaluation.

Burks is a senior who is in his third year as a starter on the Mountaineers' defense and is the team's captain. He had two tackles in the game before leaving with an injury.
