Why Cristiano Ronaldo won't play for Al-Nassr against Al-Kholood

Why Cristiano Ronaldo won't play for Al-Nassr against Al-Kholood

1 minute, 53 seconds Read

Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of the squad for Al-Nassr's match against Al-Kholood after it was revealed that his partner Georgina Rodriguez was hospitalized. Rodriguez announced that she had recovered from pneumonia after four days in the hospital. A win for Al-Nassr would move them within one point of Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal.

Although this has not been officially confirmed by the club or the player's representatives, it is likely the reason why the Portuguese superstar is not scheduled for Friday's crucial clash.

Ronaldo's unavailability for Friday's game is a huge blow as a win for Al-Nassr would move them within a point of Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal. The title rivals will face off in seven days.

According to talkSPORT, Rodriguez, who has been the Portuguese star's partner since 2016, confirmed on Instagram that she had been discharged from hospital, stating:

“Finally back home! I spent four days in the hospital with pneumonia. I'm feeling better now, but I'm still recovering at home with my family. “I have to say a big THANK YOU to all the staff, doctors, nurses and everyone else.” You have taken such wonderful care of me and I am very grateful to all of you for that.

Based on Rodriguez's timeline of events, it appears that Ronaldo played a role in Al-Nassr's AFC Champions League win against Iranian side Esteghlal while his partner was recovering in hospital. So far this season, the greatest goalscorer in football history has scored twelve goals in eleven games for his club, which is in third place after the first seven games.

As things stand, Al-Nassr is tied 2-2 against Al-Kholood.
