A Taylor Swift fan has explained why she booked 191 hotel rooms in New Orleans ahead of the singer's performances in the city.

In a recent interview with WVUE FOX 8, Louisiana native Rebecca Fox explained that she first booked these rooms last year when Swift first announced she would be performing in New Orleans in October 2024.

She said staff at the Holiday Inn on Loyola Avenue were a little concerned when she inquired about booking the large number of rooms.

“They were extremely concerned,” Fox said of the hotel. “But I think when their marketing and sales rep said, 'I don't think you all understand what Taylor can do and will bring to our property,' they changed their minds. And it’s been exciting ever since.”

Fox's idea came about after she attended Swift's concert in Arizona in 2023. That's when she noticed the high hotel prices in Glendale, with some charging guests double for rooms.

She said she didn't want Swifties in New Orleans to have a similar experience, so she paid nearly $500 for each room at the Holiday Inn last year. Since then, she has been managing requests for the rooms on Facebook and says she doesn't inflate the cost of the rooms to make a profit.

“We want to make sure New Orleans is the best, most welcoming, safest place and that they have the best time here,” she said.

The “All Too Well” singer is wrapping up her record-breaking Eras tour over the next two months. Their next shows are scheduled for October 25th, 26th and 27th at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

In November 2023, Fox first shared a video to TikTok about booking hotel rooms, joking that she had “accidentally started a Swiftie convention.”

“Just to be clear, this is not a business venture,” Fox said in the social media post. “The purpose of this was never to make money or profit from people. It was just about having a good time and having other people like me to hang out with.”

She admitted that the people in her hotel block are extremely nice and that they plan to walk together to Caesars Superdome and back, which is four blocks from the hotel, for the show.

The Independent Fox has reached out for comment.

Ahead of Swift's visit to New Orleans, the state's attorney general, Liz Murrill, discussed the recent surge in hotel bookings. In her message posted on her

“It has been brought to my attention that some hotels and businesses in New Orleans are reportedly canceling advance reservations and charging for rooms in advance of this weekend's major Taylor Swift concerts. It is wrong to take advantage of Louisiana residents and tourists who visit our state,” she said. “We encourage anyone who has a legitimate complaint against the hotel to file a consumer dispute with our office.”

Local television station WDSU said that according to the New Orleans Tourism Commission, hotels were at 100 percent capacity for the Swift concert weekend. However, room availability is limited on Sunday evening, October 27th.

Swift kicked off the final leg of her Eras tour with three consecutive shows last weekend in Miami. Their tour officially comes to an end this year, with their final show in Vancouver, Canada on December 8th.
